My name is Duncan Murray – a writer and graduate student at the University of British Columbia. I study the history of science, medicine, and European colonialism in the late-modern period, with a particular interest in French colonialism in North Africa. I am also a member of the Science & Technology Studies program.

Outside of my studies and research at UBC, I have written about various topics, ranging from energy production in Atlantic Canada to illegal fishing in Costa Rica. I write for the Vancouver-based Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries, a role in which I am also producing a podcast series about the institute’s major research project, Solving FCB.
